What is the Public Speaking Center?

The Public Speaking Center (PSC) is an expansion of Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµios established public speaking coursework; increasing educational opportunities and providing a dedicated space where students can practice, receive feedback, and grow their public speaking skills.

Our commitment to excellence in public speaking education ensures that a Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµios graduate is a confident, clear communicator, ready to lead with impact.

What does the PSC provide?

Rehearsal spaces
Reservable for student(s) use on their own, or with staff providing feedback and support.

  • Larger roomfor individual or small group rehearsing: classroom setup equipped with podium, TVs for visual aids, small whiteboard, and flip chart
  • Smaller roomfor individuals or small groups:
    • Quiet, private,with podium, TVs for visual aids, small whiteboard and flip chart;
    • Equipped with cloud recording set-up for reviewing and assessing performance

Educational opportunities

Three-Unit course:Public Speaking [MCM 257]
One-Unit courses:

  • Debate
  • Mock Trial
  • Toastmasters

As well as programming for students and guest speakers!

Where is the PSC?

The PSC is located in Brawner 60:

  • Enter Brawner through the main level doors
  • Use the stairs or elevator to go to the lower level
  • Brawner 60 is at the end of the hallway with pictures of past Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµios Commencement speakers

 

 

How can students use the PSC?

Trouble accessing the appointment system?
The appointment system is part of your Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµios account. If you are logged into a different Google or Gmail account, you will need to log out of that account, and log into your Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµios account. Then sign in with your Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµios email/password.

Can I come to the PSC without an appointment?
Making an appointment ensures that there is space and/or staff available to work with you. You are welcome to come by with questions, to get help with assignments, or just to come hang out and support others who want an audience for their rehearsal. Drop-ins will be accepted when possible. But to have a guaranteed time, please make an appointment.
